INSTALLING SYNCPLICITY

___________________________

E-mail k-cheung@u.northwestern.edu with 'syncplicity request' in the subject line.

You should then receive an e-mail (either from Kevin or another RFH member) inviting you to use syncplicity.

Click the link (shown below) and it should take you to a syncplicity webpage (also shown)

Then you follow the instructions

SHARING A FOLDER
___________________________
Run Syncplicity (click the toolbar Icon or find it in the Start menu)

Then click Syncplicity Detailed Status (if you clicked the toolbar. If you opened it from Start, ignore this step)

Then click 'Manage and share folders'

Click 'Add a new folder' and then choose a location

For folder management I'd suggest the following:
-Make 2 folders, one for yourself and one for others in RFH
-Create the folder you want to share in the folder for yourself, in my case, under 'NTropy'

-So when you make a folder to share, click the directory for yourself

-To add people to your shared folder list, click 'Add someone' and then insert their email address and click the bottom option (a list of people's emails will be included at the end of this post).

To share a file, put it in the folder you just created.
Now they can get all your files :)

GETTING A SHARED FOLDER
___________________________
To get a shared folder, e-mail the person who's stuff you want. A list of people will be found at the end of this post.
When they share a folder with you, you should get an email and also a notification on syncplicity. I would suggest clicking 'Change Location' to organize the folders.

I suggest saving it in the group folder designated.

Then Click 'Accept Shared Folder'

ETIQUETTE (ALSO STARTED BY MATT CHIA)
___________________________
Only copy stuff out of other people's folders (preferably into the 'grabbed folder mentioned earlier'

Include in your folder a text file that indicates the files you have updated.
